Carolyn teaches a gentle version of the Iyengar style of yoga, emphasising good body alignment and using the breath to relax deeply. Gentle yoga postures will improve your posture, tone and strengthen your body, and help you to de-stress and quieten your mind. Rather than follow a set sequence of poses, the aim is to have fun and vary the poses according to the needs of students. The classes end with pranayama breathing exercises and time for relaxation – leaving you feeling more balanced and re-energised.
Beginners are very welcome, as are more experienced students, since adaptations to poses will be given to suit different abilities. People of all ages will benefit, including those returning to exercise and recovering from injury.
Carolyn started practising yoga as a teenager 30 years ago. She trained with Ruth White at the Iyengar inspired Karuna Yoga Centre and holds a 500 hour teaching diploma recognised by the Yoga Alliance. Carolyn has also attended workshops in other forms of yoga, including Ashtanga, Vinyasa and Hatha yoga, as well as Pranayama and Meditation.Carolyn Ashby teaches at St Albans.
