I first came to yoga as a child, practicing with my elder sister. Over many years of practice and study, I have come to learn that yoga can provide us with the tools to heal our physical, mental and spiritual bodies, if we understand how to work within our own physical and mental limitations. Letting go of effort and surrendering to our body’s innate wisdom creates the space for growth within us.
My classes are influenced by different styles of yoga/movement therapies – Hatha, Yin, Vinyasa, Nidra, Somatics and incorporate static/slow-flowing postures, breath work, and meditation. I promote a balance of strength and stability, as well as calm and relaxation and use the therapeutic application of yoga to help with injury/illness rehabilitation. Flexibility is not required and classes are tailored to all levels.
I am a 500hr Hatha Yoga teacher and have also trained in Yin Yoga and iRest© – a deep meditative practice (also known as Yoga Nidra), which can help to reduce depression, anxiety, insomnia, chronic pain and PTSD. One of my greatest joys is to witness the positive effect yoga has on my students and teaching yoga is what I have to give back as a way of saying thank you for this life.
