Louisa was initially attracted to Pilates in 2001 due to recurrent upper back and neck problems that had been exacerbated during corporate life by spending too much time either driving or working at a computer. Pilates is the only thing which has made a long-lasting difference to her quality of daily life and made her feel so much better physically and mentally. The astounding benefits Louisa experienced from Pilates encouraged her to wish to train to teach with Body Control Pilates™ in so she could help to promote such results in others. She completed her course in Level 3 Mat Work in 2009 and is committed to her continuous professional development and has since gained qualifications and further training in:
Pilates for Pregnancy (Antenatal and Postnatal), Children, Bone Health & Osteoporosis, Older People, Scoliosis, Low Back Pain, Golfers, Equestrians, Intermediate Matwork, Small Equipment (Overball, toning circle, bands, foam roller), Spine Corrector & Pilates Arc as well as Reformer, Cadillac and Chair.
Louisa is also a qualified Sports Massage Therapist and although now practices this infrequently, this additional knowledge has greatly influenced her Pilates teaching.
Louisa teaches Beginners and Intermediate group Matwork classes as well as private 1:1 Matwork/Studio Equipment and small group sessions. She enjoys sharing her knowledge with clients and seeing what a positive impact Pilates has for them. Louisa is a good communicator who gives clients feedback to ensure they get the most benefit from her classes. While a friendly, caring, patient and considerate teacher she will also encourage clients to challenge themselves as they become stronger and more confident.
Louisa Harris teaches at Dunstable.
